Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization
Mission

Welcome to the Department of Justice's (DOJ) website for Small and Disadvantaged Businesses. Our mission is to ensure that small businesses, including small disadvantaged businesses, woman owned small businesses, service disabled veteran owned small businesses and HUBZone certified businesses have the maximum practicable opportunity to participate in our work as prime contractors and subcontractors. DOJ’s major buying activities spent approximately $6.5 Billion through contracts with the private sector in FY 2011. Small businesses received approximately $1.7 Billion.

DOJ is committed to encouraging and assisting small businesses seeking contracts with the Department. The acquisition function in the Justice Department has been assigned to each of our bureaus' contracting staffs, most of which are located in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. We've prepared several avenues to assist you in getting better acquainted with the requirements and procurement practices of the bureaus that make up "the largest law firm in the Nation."

BussinessUSA

BusinessUSA is a Presidential initiative with the objective of making it easier for small businesses and exporters to access federally-supported programs and services that address their needs. By March 1, 2013, all departments and agencies with resources for businesses and entrepreneurs, including DOJ, are asked to include a link to http://business.usa.gov on their homepage. While a link entitled BusinessUSA is minimally sufficient, BusinessUSA logos and graphics are available at http://business.usa.gov/link-to-us and may also be used. It is also requested that DOJ add the BusinessUSA widget, available at http://business.usa.gov/link-to-us, to appropriate business-facing pages for the department/agency and any sub operating units to facilitate a more streamlined access point to government resources and an improved customer experience. These actions support the President's vision for a "no wrong door" approach to accessing business assistance resources articulated in his October 28, 2011 memorandum entitled, "Making it Easier for America's Small Businesses and America's Exporters to Access Government Services to Help Them Grow and Hire."
