How to access a manuscript to (a) add NIH funding (b) review the PDF Receipt or (c) approve the web version
How to access the NIHMS system:
- If you have clicked the link in a request email and are not able to access the NIHMS, please contact us.
- If you have not clicked the link and need assistance with the eRA Commons login route, please contact the Commons help desk at 1-866-504-9552.
- If you already have an account, please use the proper login route [ see: I am a PI. What login route do I use?] with your existing account information.
- If you are having trouble with serial and/or IC numbers on a form, contact the Commons help desk at 1-866-504-9552.
a) To add the NIH funding as support for a manuscript:
- Log in to the NIHMS at http://www.nihms.nih.gov/db/sub.cgi? via the proper log in route with your username and password. Do not use previous email links.
- Once you return to the NIHMS, click on the manuscript title and you will see the words 'Add grants' in the center of the page and highlighted in yellow. Click on this text to add the NIH funding.
- After adding the NIH funding and reviewing the PDF Receipt, there is an 'Approve' button on the bottom right.
b) To review the PDF Receipt for a manuscript:
- Log in to the NIHMS at http://www.nihms.nih.gov/db/sub.cgi? via the proper log in route with your username and password. Do not use previous email links.
- Once you return to the NIHMS, click on the manuscript title and you will see the words 'PDF Receipt' highlighted in yellow.
- Click on this text to review the manuscript.
- After reviewing the PDF Receipt, there is an 'Approve' button on the bottom right.
c) To review the web version of a manuscript:
- Log in to the NIHMS at http://www.nihms.nih.gov/db/sub.cgi? via the proper log in route with your username and password. Do not use previous email links.
- Once you return to the NIHMS, click on the manuscript title and you will see the words 'PMC-ready manuscript' highlighted in yellow. Click on this text to review the manuscript. If you need to request corrections, there is a 'Request Corrections' button on the bottom right.
