10 February 2013 State Department on Terrorist Attack on Camp Hurriya in Iraq The United States condemns in the strongest terms the vicious and senseless terrorist attack that took place this morning at Camp Hurriya killing 6 people and injuring dozens more. We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and hope for the swift recovery of those who were injured.

06 December 2012 U.S., Iraq Sign Defense Cooperation Agreement  American and Iraqi officials signed a memorandum of understanding December 6 in Baghdad that will make it easier for the two countries to work together.  The committee discussed efforts to strengthen security cooperation between the two nations.

28 November 2012 Fact Sheet on U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement  U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Beecroft and Deputy Prime Minister Salih al-Mutlaq launched the first meeting of the Services, Technology, Environment and Transportation Joint Coordinating Committee under the U.S.-Iraq Strategic Framework Agreement at the Council of Minister's Secretariat. The two governments agreed to expand U.S.-Iraq cooperation in the areas of health, agriculture, water, and private-sector development.

16 September 2012 State Department update on Camp Ashraf   "Today, the seventh convoy of approximately 680 Camp Ashraf residents arrived safely at Camp Hurriya. This convoy represents the last major relocation of residents from former Camp Ashraf to Camp Hurriya and marks a significant milestone in efforts to achieve a sustainable humanitarian solution to this issue."

29 August 2012 State Dept. on Resumed Progress toward Camp Ashraf's Peaceful Closure  "The Government of Iraq has made considerable efforts to achieve a peaceful and secure resolution for the residents of Camp Ashraf, and we urge continued steps to address humanitarian concerns raised at Camp Hurriya by the residents".

23 August 2012 Dempsey Finds Familiar, Unfamiliar in Baghdad The relationship between Iraq and the United States is improving because U.S. officials did what they said they would do, the chairman said. When the United States and Iraq negotiated the agreement for U.S. troops to leave Iraq in December, many Iraqis believed it wouldn’t happen, he said.

01 August 2012 State Dept. on Camp Ashraf  The United States is concerned by the Government of Iraq’s reference on July 31 to the possible closure of Camp Ashraf by involuntary relocation of its residents. We urge the Government of Iraq to remain patient and flexible in seeking a voluntary arrangement for continued relocations, as only a peaceful resolution to the situation at Camp Ashraf is acceptable

21 October 2011 Obama: All U.S. Forces to Leave Iraq by End of 2011  President Obama announced that by the end of 2011 all U.S. military forces will be withdrawn from Iraq.  Obama made the announcement at the White House shortly after conferring with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in a secure video conference between Washington and Baghdad.

21 December 2010 Obama: New Iraqi Government Advances National Unity  The Iraqi Parliament's approval of a new government led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is "a significant moment in Iraq’s history and a major step forward in advancing national unity," President Obama says.  The Council of Representatives swore in a new Iraqi government December 21 in Baghdad after approximately nine months of debate. The parliament approved approximately 30 of the 42 government ministers, including al-Maliki. The remaining posts are filled by acting ministers who will be replaced by permanent ministers at a later date.

26 March 2010 Iraqi Women Leaders on Building Democracy  Democracy in Iraq is being bolstered by the emergence of strong civil society institutions and the remarkable women often involved with them, a group of 15 Iraqi elected female officials said during a two-week exchange of ideas with U.S. policymakers.The women, each an elected member of an Iraqi provincial council, visited the United States for the Iraqi Woman Provincial Council Leadership Conference to discuss the needs of democracy and civil society in their country.

25 March 2010 Iraqis Vote in Eight American Cities  Iraqis felt the chill of late winter in Michigan rather than in Baghdad. They braved traffic jams in San Diego rather than Iraqi checkpoints. Many drove for more than 10 hours to cast their vote. At the end of the day, many of the 26,000 registered Iraqi voters were pleased to show the purple ink on their finger indicating that they had voted.
