    The Committee on the Judiciary has a wide range of responsibilities including judicial nominations, certain counterterrorism and homeland security issues, intellectual property, criminal law, as well as maintaining oversight of the Department of Justice. Senator Blumenthal has been a champion of Internet privacy and safety, as well an aggressive advocate for consumer protection, and looks forward to using his position to fight for Connecticut families.

  • Committee on Armed Services »

    The Committee on Armed Services is responsible for overseeing the nation’s military forces including the Department of Defense, military research and development, and a variety of other national security issues. One of Senator Blumenthal’s top priorities will be protecting the New London Naval Submarine Base from any threat of closure and working closely with Connecticut companies that have defense related jobs.

    The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has jurisdiction over a variety of domestic and international commercial areas. With a wide ranging portfolio including transportation infrastructure, maritime security and environmental protection, and science and technology research the committee plays a pivotal role in American business. Senator Blumenthal has an extensive history in advocating on behalf of consumers and will continue to champion these issues as a member of the committee.

    The U.S. Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs oversees the governments’ role and relationship with our retiring servicemembers and veterans. The committee focuses on veterans benefits, post-service civil life, mental and physical health care and other issues affecting our nation’s heroes. Senator Blumenthal has dedicated his career to honoring and caring for veterans of all eras and will use his position on the committee to fight for Connecticut veterans and their families, improve veterans’ healthcare, smooth the transition from the Department of Defense to the VA, foster employment opportunities for veterans, and expedite the VA claims process.
