If selected for this position you will:

 

  • Take the lead role in formulating research and/or testing to characterize the biological, toxicological, and carcinogenic potential of chemicals;
  • Make recommendations for the development of new or revised toxicology and carcinogenesis programs;
  • Review and evaluate scientific and technical literature for application and relevance to research and/or testing of chemicals; 
  • Evaluate results of toxicology and carcinogenesis studies;
  • Prepare technical reports and research papers on results;
  • Serve as leader of scientific review teams consisting of scientists evaluating assigned chemicals;
  • Prepare detailed specifications for research contracts and technical guidance during pre and post-award phases of contracting;
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of contractors.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

 

A degree in toxicology, or an appropriate discipline of the biological, medical, or veterinary sciences that included at least 30 semester hours in chemistry, biochemistry, or physiology, and 12 semester hours in toxicology. 

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

In addition to the basic requirement, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to the GS-13, level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following types of tasks: designing, conducting, interpreting and reporting regulatory guideline toxicology studies in a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) environment; interpreting adverse outcomes in experimental animal studies for assessment of potential human hazards;  applying, adapting and modifying laboratory methods, procedures and techniques to resolve unexpected results of toxicology studies; evaluating toxicology data and preparing written results for scientific journals or other related professional publications; presenting information at scientific meetings; and providing oversight or management of toxicology contracts.

We are able to pay relocation expenses. 

A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/ placement.

Occasional travel of 1 night per month.
