RCMI Centers

The RCMI Centers build capacity for basic biomedical and behavioral research at academic institutions. Applicants must identify a specific research focus, such as neuroscience, pharmacology, cancer, HIV/AIDS, structural biology, immunology, or bioengineering. Centers may employ basic and/or translational approaches toward attaining research goals.

The major focus of the funding should be on institutional resource development, which might include supporting core facilities and staff, purchasing advanced instruments, or minor laboratory renovations. While the RCMI Centers program is designed to allow maximum flexibility in requesting resources, at least two-thirds of the requested funds must be directed to multi-user resources rather than individual research projects.
