Deafness Research Foundation Joins Noisy Planet Campaign
2011 note: Deafness Research Foundation has changed its name to the Hearing Health Foundation.
The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) is pleased to announce its newest partner in the It's a Noisy Planet. Protect Their Hearing campaign: the Deafness Research Foundation (DRF). DRF provides private funding for basic and clinical research in hearing and balance science.
The partnership will extend the reach of the Noisy Planet campaign to parents and other adults who influence the health behavior of tweens (children ages 8 to 12). The Noisy Planet campaign encourages parents of tweens to teach their children how to adopt healthy habits that will help protect their hearing for life.
One of DRF's first actions as a Noisy Planet partner is to publish a feature article on the campaign in its Summer 2009 issue of Hearing Health, a quarterly magazine that provides public outreach and education to a national audience—including people with hearing and balance disorders, otolaryngologists, audiologists, researchers, and manufacturers. DRF also plans to distribute Noisy Planet fact sheets; develop a Noisy Planet page on its Web site, http://www.drf.org; and announce campaign updates through its quarterly e-newsletter, Hearing Health E-News.
