The NIHITS to LMS Internal Training Transition is Complete!

Important Dates:

  • On July 2, the Learning Management System (LMS) – also known as the HHS Learning Portal – replaced NIHITS for new internal training registrations. NIH employees can now register for NIHTC courses in the LMS. In addition, the NIHTC course catalog provides direct links to register for offerings in the LMS. Once registered, your order—referred to as a “nomination” in NIHITS—is routed for approval. 
    • When registering for an NIHTC class in the LMS, learners receive email notification of changes to their registration status throughout the approval process.
    • If additional training approvals need to be obtained outside of those specified in the LMS, follow the internal business processes defined by your IC.
    • IC NIHITS-LMS Transition Working Group representatives can provide guidance for both internal business processes and user roles in the LMS.
    • Course completion credit will automatically be tracked in the LMS.

  • July 13 was  the deadline to approve all pre-existing NIHTC class nominations in NIHITS. New NIHTC class registrations may no longer be created in NIHITS.
  • On July 16, the transfer of financial data for fully-approved LMS orders began obligating training funds in the NBS.

Starting July 16th, the NIH LMS Team hosted informational webinars for the NIH community. These hour-long sessions were recorded and are available for  viewing.
