Custom Information Solutions

Improve your reprint and citation databases. Let the NIH Library help you develop your own databases for quicker and easier retrieval from your collections.

The NIH Library provides ready access to thousands of resources, so much that it may be difficult to find the best resources for your research needs. A customized database or Web site can enhance your group's access to information by serving as a focal point related to your research.

The NIH Library can provide a number of customizations to best meet your needs, including:

  • custom views of NIH Library resources tailored to your group, either hosted on the library's Web site or embedded into your group site
  • creation of custom reprint or bibliographic reference databases in support of a specific group or institute, provided either as local EndNote, Reference Manager, or Quosa files, or hosted on a Web site
  • extensive database searching for special projects
  • creation of "Virtual Research Environments" to enable online collaboration around a set of data, literature lists or topic
  • creation of a customized Web search tool that can provide a "deep search" across any set of Web pages and online resources, including journals, society pages, reference databases, etc.
We can also help you promote the site to your work group and provide training on how to effectively use the site, such as database searching and setting up current awareness profiles. To see samples of customized websites, go to the site developed for the NIAID Extramural Divisions, Handheld Users Group (HUG), or the Nursing Resources page.
