Podcast: Staying Healthy in the New Year

Rand: From the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, I’m Rand Gardner with Healthcare 411. Information for better health.

As the New Year approaches, it’s a good time to start thinking about how to stay healthy in 2013. And if you’re covered by Medicare, you may be eligible for some of the new benefits provided under the Affordable Care Act.

More from AHRQ director Dr. Carolyn Clancy:

Dr. Clancy: If you’re new to Medicare, you may be eligible for a "Welcome to Medicare" wellness visit, at no cost to you. With this visit, your doctor will get a good picture of your overall health, and can offer educational information to help you improve your health. Yearly wellness visits are also covered. And, a wide range of no-cost preventive and screening tests are available under the health care law.

Rand: For more on benefits available for Medicare recipients, visit The Director’s Corner at ahrq.gov. Healthcare 411 is a production of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
