Postdoctoral Research Position at the Intersections of Medical Informatics, Machine Learning and Computational Linguistics

The Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications at the National Library of Medicine, a research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services, is recruiting for postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars to participate in collaborative research in Medical Informatics, Machine Learning, and Computational Linguistics. Fellows and scholars will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the next generation clinical text de-identification tools to redact individually identifiable patient information in clinical reports in order to produce clinical research corpora while protecting patient health information and patient privacy.

Postdoctoral candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Applicants without a master or doctoral level computer science degree should possess exceptional programming skills in at least one language (preferably in Perl). A background in machine learning, computational linguistics, biomedical informatics, and/or Bayesian probability theory is a plus.

The salary is commensurate with research experience and education. The position term is one year and may be renewed for an additional year.
