The Society of American Archivists http://www.archivists.org/ held their awards ceremony Friday, August 31, 2007, in Chicago, during which the Philip M. Hamer and Elizabeth M. Hamer Kegan award was presented to the NLM website, Profiles in Science. Christie Moffatt accepted the award on behalf of NLM.

Established in 1973, this award recognizes an archivist, editor, group of individuals, or institution that has increased public awareness of a specific body of documents through compilation, transcription, exhibition, or public presentation of archives or manuscript materials for educational, instructional, or other public purpose.

The award committee commended the Profiles in Science website for "increasing the public's awareness of the leading innovators of science, medicine and public health through a combination of primary documents, complimentary text, valuable metadata and collaboration between archives."
