Janice Balin has worked at NIH for 18 years in the human resources field. She has served as a Human Resources Specialist in the Office of Human Resources, NIH, and in the NICHD. Prior to becoming a Federal employee she worked in various personnel offices in private industry, taught pre-school, and was a stay-at-home mom for a few years. In early 2007 Ms. Balin was recruited to NIDDK to serve as a liaison between the Institute and the Office of Human Resources. She is currently a Workforce Resources Specialist responsible for advising managers and supervisors on issues related to HR policies, Title 5 and Title 42, sr. level recruitments, workforce planning, employee relations, and other issues that require guidance and advice. Ms. Balin is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a degree in Early Childhood Education and some graduate courses in Counseling. She is a conscientious fitness advocate and enjoys traveling around the USA; visiting beautiful sites she has never seen before. She and her husband raised 3 sons and hope someday to write a book about those crazy years.
