Grants and contracts awarded to Universities and small businesses for training and research total 87% of NIDDK’s annual budget of $1.7 billion, and another 9.7% funds the research done by scientists at NIDDK. NIDDK's contribution to the NIH Roadmap in FY 2005 was $10.83 million (0.6%) , which is included in Research Project Grants.
