Summer reunions can be a time to celebrate family traditions. They can also be a great time to talk about family health.
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you Healthy Moments. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at NIH.
Your family history can tell important things about your health. For example, if you have a mother, father, sister, or brother with kidney disease or who receives dialysis, you may be at risk and should get tested. Early kidney disease has no signs or symptoms. Talk to your doctor about getting tested.
If you have either diabetes or high blood pressure, the two leading causes of kidney failure, you should get tested.
