People often ask about the warning signs of diabetes. Here’s how one man from Virginia described his experience.
“I noticed one time when I was constantly have [sic] to use the men’s room at night time, so I didn’t know what was going on, and I was constantly being thirsty all the time, so that kind of alarmed me, and when I was referreeing a basketball game one time, I went over to the score book, and I couldn’t see the score book, so I really got scared at that time.”
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you Healthy Moments from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
This man was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. If you experience frequent urination, increased thirst, and blurred vision, tell your doctor.
And if you have a family member with diabetes, ask your doctor if you’re at risk for the disease and how you can prevent it.
