DA Postal Program

Welcome

The Department of the Army Postal Program provides technical and strategic guidance on various programs related to "Army" postal operations in CONUS and OCONUS to functional managers. We coordinate the operation of 182 Army Post Offices (APOs) of the 416 DoD full functioning Military Post Offices (MPOs) that are established in 25 of the 93 countries supported worldwide.  We also provide customer service for Army inquirers assisting with trying to locate undelivered accountable mail for Soldiers located overseas.  Department of The Army Postal Program is the proponent for AR 600-8-3, Unit Postal Operations. 

We understand that mail is a major quality-of-life issue and we can assure you that the Military Postal System and the United States Postal Service are doing everything possible to provide timely postal service to our Army community worldwide.

Our Vision

The Army Postal Program vision, is to be the business solution integrator of choice for postal technical and proficiency readiness; provide transformation guidance and technology leadership; be in the business of postal and not in the postal business; foster an environment which motivates, recognizes and awards the workforce and creates  innovation in the evolving global military postal enterprise; facilitate communication and coordination between the technical and functional leads, the U.S. Army sister Services, the United States Postal Service and other outside agencies; and provide an enterprise approach to postal policies and procedures.”

Our Mission

The roles and mission of the Department of the Army Postal Program are:

  • Develop Army Postal Policy
  • Functional proponent for AR 600-8-3, Unit Postal Operations
  • Subject matter expert for technical and functional postal operations (peacetime and contingency)
  • Inform DA leadership of postal operations, initiatives and issues
  • Liaison with Army Service Component Commands, Military Postal Service Agency and Sister Services
  • Support /Assist  Army Postal Units with Deployment Preparation, Execution and Transition
  • Review Soldier Support Institute curriculum to ensure Army needs are met
  • Communicate Through MPSA to USPS
