The Ombudsman's Role at NIH

What kinds of concerns do ombudsmen handle?

People bring a wide range of concerns to the Office of the Ombudsman. The most common concerns involve staff-management interactions; performance appraisals; difficult management situations; perceived discrimination or harassment; interpersonal misunderstandings; and scientific issues involving mentoring, authorship, and scientific collaboration.

These and many other issues can be confidentially discussed with our office. We can provide an outside perspective on your work-related problem or act as a confidential and informal sounding board, available to discuss options for handling a particular dilemma.
