Mountainous star coral (Montastraea faveolata) and elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata) were studied in a multi-institutional effort to document coral spawning from August 26-September 1, 2010, in the upper region of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary (FKNMS).

circle hook   Publication of the Proceedings of the International Circle Hook Symposium. We are delighted to announce that entire Proceedings are now published and freely-available on the World Wide Web in a dedicated volume of the Bulletin of Marine Science (Volume 88, Number 3; Pages 371 - 815). The Proceedings capture the scientific findings, perspectives and recommendations of contributors from 24 nations who were among the 180 attendees who convened in Coral Gables, Florida, USA, in May, 2011. Collectively, the 26 peer-reviewed articles and 56 abstracts on this topic represent an important resource for all those interested in improving the sustainability of hook-and-line fisheries around the world.
