NIH Graduate Student Symposium

The Symposium is the premier platform for NIH graduate students to showcase their research to their peers and to the greater NIH community. The Symposium also hosts keynote and opening talks from world-renown scientists, policymakers, and senior NIH leadership. Over 100 students present their dissertation projects during the poster session, which includes a category highlighting research proposals from students early on in their dissertation studies. Travel awards are granted to students presenting posters judged to be at the top of their category by the judging committees, which are organized and administered by FelCom. Additionally, several students are selected to present their research in the form of a short talk. To be eligible for this honor, student presenters must first have presented their work at either the Graduate Student Retreat or during a GS3 seminar. The Symposium concludes each year with a ceremony honoring GPP students who have recently graduated from their home university. Email GSCsymposium@od.nih.gov for more information.
