Creating an Account on the OITE Web Site
You will want to create an account on the OITE Web site so that you can (1) register for Career Services appointments, (2) register for OITE programs with a single click and receive handouts in advance, and (3) create a My OITE page that will help you keep track of your appointments and registrations, and (4) use the Alumni Database.
Please follow these directions to create an account:
- Go to the OITE Web site: https://www.training.nih.gov.
- Click on either the "Register" link associated with an OITE event or the "LOG IN" button found at the top right of every page. (NOTE: if you click on an event registration and you have not yet created an account, scroll down until you see the account registration form, which begins with the "User Type" field.)
- Select "NIH Trainee/Fellow" as your User Type.
- When asked for your e-mail address, enter a functional e-mail address ending in "nih.gov" or "@fda.hhs.gov".
- Complete and submit the registration form.
- Click on the link in your registration confirmation e-mail to activate your account.
Questions Asked Frequently about OITE accounts
What if I want to register for an event but do not yet have my NIH ID badge and e-mail account?
Register as a "Guest" by selecting that option from the User Type menu. This will allow you to register for events, but you will not be able to register for Career Services appointments. When you receive your NIH ID badge and e-mail address, e-mail Pat Sokolove to request that she convert your account to an "NIH Trainee/Fellow" account. Include your IC, ID badge number, and e-mail address in the message.
What if I have already been at the NIH and have an account in the Alumni Database?
Create and use an "NIH Trainee/Fellow" account for the time that you are at the NIH. When you leave, please let Dr. Sokolove know so that she can delete your "Trainee/Fellow" account. Your "Alumni" account will remain active, and you can use it when you leave the NIH.
What if I do not receive a confirmation e-mail?
The most likely explanation is that you incorrectly entered your e-mail address. Contact Dr. Sokolove and ask that she determine what has happened and correct the situation.
I have applied to an NIH training program. Will I increase my chances of being offered a position if I create a "Guest" account on the OITE system and begin registering for events? Creating a "Guest" account will not increase your chances of being offered a position. Please wait until you are at the NIH and then create an "NIH Trainee/Fellow" account.
