Abstract
The present health care system is not sustainable in terms of cost, access to care, and quality. It is also not sustainable because of the magnitude of disparities in health, especially in light of the goal of eliminating disparities in health. Health reform affords many benefits and opportunities. Reform is an important step towards reducing disparities in health. In context of mental health, this presentation will highlight the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 and the Affordable Care Act passed in March 2010.
