New! Rural Veterans to be Served by New VA Clinic in Eureka, California - October 4, 2012

About 11,000 U.S. military service Veterans living in Humboldt County will no longer have to drive five hours south if they happen to need hearing, vision, foot and ankle or artificial limb specialized medical services. These new offerings will be added to the current menu of services available to local Veterans - except that now Veterans will be able to access such services directly at a brand new Eureka Veterans Affairs (VA) Clinic scheduled to open up for services on Oct. 1, in the fully renovated space of the old Safeway building at 930 W. Harris St., Eureka.

Veterans in Rural Areas Get Expanded Access to Health Care - September 13, 2012

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) Eric K. Shinseki announced a joint effort to expand health care delivery to Veterans living in rural areas. The agreement between the two agencies promotes collaboration between VA facilities and private hospitals and clinics, and is supported by grants to improve access and coordination of care through telehealth and health information exchanges in rural areas.
