Tools for ArcMap

The Tools for ArcMap section includes four freely available plug-ins that can be used to expand the capabilities of ArcMap™, software that allows users to visualize their data by creating publication-quality static or interactive maps. ArcMap™ is part of the Esri ArcGIS Desktop suite. Please note that the tools listed below are intended for Esri ArcMap Version 9.0 or 9.1 only. Available plug-ins developed and/or funded by NCI include:

  • ColorTool – helps users create choropleth maps using ColorBrewer color ramps.
  • Head-Bang – takes data from a shapefile or table within ArcMap™ and processes a selected field to remove data spikes using the Head-Bang smoothing algorithm.
  • JoinTool – allows the user to compare a comma-separated values (csv) or text file with a shapefile prior to using the ArcMap™ join function.
  • SEER*Stat Bridge – allows the user to import data from SEER*Stat to make a map.

The Installation Instructions apply to all of the plug-ins.
