Redaction Procedures

This is to let you know about some new procedures we are implementing
concerning redaction.

We will no longer routinely redact the names of petitioners using the John
or Jane Doe system. We will expect compliance with the provisions in the
Vaccine Act governing redaction, see 42 U.S.C. 300aa-12(d)(4), and Vaccine
Rule 18(b). Upon timely request for redaction (the request must be
received within 14 days or it will be too late), including a proper motion
under Rule 18(b), we will redact the names of minors to their initials.
Other types of redaction will likely be handled on a case by case basis.

If you have questions about the new procedures or about redaction in a
particular case, you should contact chambers.
