Figure 2.10, a bar chart, shows past month use of any illicit drug among persons aged 12 or older in 2002 by county type. Among persons living in small metropolitan counties, 8.9 percent had used any illicit drug in the past month. The rate among persons living in large metropolitan counties was 8.6 percent. Eight percent of persons in urbanized nonmetropolitan counties, 6.1 percent of persons in less urbanized nonmetropolitan counties, and 5.4 percent of persons in rural nonmetropolitan counties had used illicit drugs in the past month.
