Figure 3.3 is a bar graph showing the percentages of persons aged 18 or older reporting heavy alcohol use in the past month by college attendance and age group in 2002. Among young adults aged 18 to 22 who were enrolled in college full time, 18.8 percent reported past month heavy alcohol use, and, among those not enrolled in college full time, 13.4 percent reported past month heavy alcohol use. However, the graph shows that, among persons aged 26 or older, 5.2 percent of those who attended college reported past month heavy alcohol use compared with 6.7 percent of persons who had a high school education or less.
