Figure 9.5 is a bar chart showing past year mental health treatment among adults aged 18 or older by type of treatment in 2002. Thirteen percent of the population 18 years old or older received mental health treatment. Past year rates for specific types of treatment were 10.5 percent for prescription medication, 7.4 percent for outpatient treatment, and 0.7 percent for inpatient treatment.
