  • Threat Assessment in Stalking Cases

    November 1, 2012 1:00pm EST

Research indicates that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 19 men will be stalked in their lifetime. Assessing the threat faced by stalking victims is critical to enhancing victim safety. While there are a number of threat assessment tools available, they are written to be used within a domestic violence or other context rather than being specific to stalking. Join us for a webinar with Dr. Karl Roberts, as he discusses the stalking threat assessment tool he created in conjunction with Dr. Lorraine Sheridan. Dr. Roberts will provide an overview of stalking violence before discussing the development and validation of the empirically based stalking threat assessment tool which is widely used by law enforcement and victims in the United Kingdom. Pilot testing revealed that the tool is quick and easy to use and provides a sound and reliable assessment of stalking threat. The webinar is an opportunity for participants to examine the stalking risk tool and to discuss its potential use in the United States.
