Pam Marcus
Pamela Marcus, PhD is an Epidemiologist in the Health Services and Economics
Branch of the Applied Research Program. Prior to joining ARP, Pam was an
Epidemiologist with the Biometry Research Group in the Division of Cancer
Prevention. Pam has spent the last 12 or so years working on the National Lung
Screening Trial (NLST). Her responsibilities on NLST included trial design,
day-to-day management, contractor oversight, data analysis, and manuscript
preparation. During her tenure at NCI she has published extensively on lung
cancer screening (including the existence of overdiagnosis) and clinical trials
management. Dr. Marcus received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a BA in Mathematics from the City University of
New York (Baruch College), and two masters degrees from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison (Statistics; Preventive Medicine). Dr. Marcus manages the Population-Based Research Optimizing Screening through
Personalized Regimens (PROSPR) and Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium
(BCSC) initiatives for ARP as well as providing expertise on other ARP
efforts.
