CIT Logo Usage Guidelines

We are happy to announce that NIH has selected a new logo or “visual identity system” for the NIH and ICs.  It was designed to create a consistent identity across the ICs.

For the most part, the only logo will be the NIH mark.  The Institutes, Centers, Offices, and Programs will be identified with text, alongside the NIH mark.  Guidelines, including a decision tree for specific use, are attached for your reference.

ICs should follow the NIH policy prohibiting development of unique, visual logos, and that they cease using existing visual logos, except for special circumstances that are described in the attached guidelines.  The tagline “NIH... Turning Discovery Into Health” is not officially part of the NIH logo. Should you wish to include the tagline, it should just include the words “Turning Discovery Into Health”. Policies regarding the use of the HHS logo remain the same.

Understanding that there still may be situations in which special cases arise, contact the OCIO/CIT Communications Office.
