The zLinux Virtual Server Hosting service provides open source servers for NIH Data Center customers. The zLinux Virtual Hosting Server is based on the zEnterprise server platform that supports the z/VM (virtual machine) operating system and Red Hat Enterprise Linux to run multiple virtual Linux servers.

Additional services on zLinux include:

Blogs: public online journals run on WordPress;
LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP/PERL)-based applications: an interlocking set of technologies on which developers can build and deploy web-based applications;
Wikis: collaborative websites where authorized users can add or modify content using their browser;
Apache-based front end to an MS SQL server database;
Statistical packages and a wide variety of other software (such as clustering software);
Content Management Software (e.g., Joomla, Drupal, WordPress)
