Medical Provider Component (MPC) Data Collection Schedule


The table below summarizes the schedule for collecting 2009 MPC data. As shown in the table, the MPC collects data for the following provider types:  Hospitals, Office-Based Providers, Institutions, Home Health Agencies, Pharmacies, and Separately Billing Doctors (SBDs). Data collection for Hospitals, Office-Based Providers, Institutions and Home Health Agencies began in March 2010 and ended in November 2010.  Pharmacy data collection started in July 2010 and ended in December 2010. And finally, data for Separately Billing Doctors (SBDs) were collected from December 2010 to April 2011.

MPC cases are received from the main Household sample at several different times during data collection. These deliveries are called waves. Non-pharmacy provider types were fielded in two waves: pharmacy, in four waves. For each of the provider types, the table shows the total number of weeks in which the year’s MPC sample was fielded.
