Vision Impairment
Description: Vision impairment, or low vision, means not seeing well even with eyeglasses, contact lenses, medicine, or surgery. Vision impairment can range from mild to severe. The leading causes of vision impairment in the U.S. are age-related eye diseases. Other disorders, eye injuries, and birth defects can also cause vision loss.
Data tables: For tables specifically on vision aids expenditures, go to Table 4.1.a of the Expenditures by Health Care Service tables of the HC Summary Data Tables.
Analytic tools: You can use the MEPSnet/HC query tool to generate tables for vision aid expenditures. Select the Vision Aids variables from the Utilization, Expenditure and SOP variables category.
Publications: Publications are listed in reverse chronological order (most recent first).
