Associations and Organizations
For additional information on grants, you can visit and read about these grant associations and organizations below. Five people with ideas about shaping the future of their profession organized their thoughts and their peers to form the American Association of Grant Professionals. AAGP is the first organization focused solely on the advancement of grantsmanship as a profession and the support of its practitioners.
The Federal Demonstration Partnership is a cooperative initiative among 10 federal agencies and 98 institutional recipients of federal funds. Its purpose is to reduce the administrative burdens associated with research grants and contracts. The interaction between FDP's 300 or so university and federal representatives takes place in FDP's 3 annual meetings and, more extensively, in the many collaborative working groups and task forces that meet often by conference calls in order to develop specific work products. Foundation Center accomplishes its mission to “strengthen the nonprofit sector by advancing knowledge about U.S. philanthropy” by operating library/learning centers that offer free access to information resources and educational programs, maintaining unique databases of information on the more than 95,000 foundations, corporate donors, and grant-making public charities in the U.S, providing free online search tools, tutorials, downloadable reports, and other information updated daily. The Foundation Center also coordinates a nationwide network of funding information centers.
The Grants Policy Committee (GPC) is a committee of the
U.S. Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council consisting of grants policy experts from across the federal government. The GPC is committed to serving the best interests of the grants community by continually identifying opportunities to improve federal financial assistance. The GPC's improvement efforts gained significant momentum when the committee assumed responsibility for implementing P.L. 106-107, the Federal Financial Management Assistance Act of 1999. While
P.L. 106-107 expired in November 2007, the GPC continues to build on this momentum, advancing existing efforts and leveraging new opportunities to enhance federal financial assistance.
NGMA connects professionals in the grants field to improve and unify the grants delivery process by bringing together the professionals involved in this process so that they may learn from each other. NGMA supports the evolving process of grants management across all levels – from the grantmaker through the grant recipient – and everyone in between.
The mission of the National Grants Partnership is to foster a partnership among state, local, and tribal government and non-profit stakeholders and federal grant-making agencies to improve effectiveness of use of grant funds and reduce burdens associated with grants administration.
NCURA serves its members and advances the field of research administration through education and professional development programs, the sharing of knowledge and experience, and by fostering a professional, collegial, and respected community.
