As 2014 approaches, states are working on the design, implementation, and administration of these private insurance exchanges, for which consumers could qualify for subsidies. Behavioral health providers have a stake in understanding the purpose and function of these new insurance exchanges since their creation, paired with an expansion of Medicaid eligibility to 138% federal poverty level (FPL), will likely introduce more insured clients into community behavioral health settings.
