The premier senior adaptive rehabilitation program in the United States, and the only national multi-event sports and recreational seniors' competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older Veterans, including those with a wide range of abilities and disabilities. The Games serve as a qualifying event for competition in the National Senior Games in a number of competitive events every even numbered year (2010, 2012, etc.).

Make plans now to be part of the 27th National Veterans Golden Age Games in Buffalo, NY, May 30 - June 4, 2013. Buffalo known as the Queen City, due to being the second largest city in New York or the Nickel City, as named in the early part of the 20th century from having the appearance of a bison on the back of the Indian Head nickel, is one of the top cities in America for architecture, home to the world renowned Albright-Knox Art Gallery, sports teams and a beautiful waterfront. Enjoy the architectural works of Frank Lloyd Wright, Olmstead park system and great fishing on Lake Erie and the mighty Niagara River.

Recent studies indicate that disabled Veterans who participate in adaptive sports report benefits such as:

  • less stress
  • reduced dependency on pain and depression medication
  • fewer secondary medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension)
  • higher achievement in education and employment
  • more independence
