NIH IT Service Desk Advisory Group (SDAG)

Purpose:
To provide guidance and input to the management of the consolidated NIH IT Service Desk and to provide a venue for discussion of changes in the policies and operating procedures of the NIH IT Service Desk.

  • 3rd Wednesday of every month, 1:00pm-2:30pm, Fernwood 3D12

  • Service Desk issues are discussed along with general CIT issues. Reports from the Desktop Best Practices subcommittee meetings as well as updates on Remedy are given here.
  • The advisory group reviews and provides guidance on a wide range of NIH IT Service Desk operational topics, including: service levels, ticket processing, supported services, marketing, and quality assurance.  In addition, the advisory group will serve as a best practices forum for IT support at NIH.  The main focus is to:
      • Promote collaboration across the NIH IT support communities      
      • Update the IT community on NIH IT Service Desk activities
      • Advise and comment on NIH IT Service Desk process and procedure
      • Facilitate discussion, debate, and dialogue regarding IT support delivery at the NIH
      • Find common ground from which to standardize NIH IT Service Desk service delivery to its customers
      • Provide a consolidated group of IT partners across the NIH for which to share news and information relevant to NIH IT support
  • The NIH IT Service Desk Branch Chief runs this meeting.
NIH Desktop Best Practices

  • 3rd Wednesday every other month, 11:30pm-12:30pm, Fernwood 3D12
  • ICs share technical desktop practices in a ‘non-political’ forum.
  • Focus is on technical information.
  • The CIT Desktop Section Chief runs this meeting.LI>
Remedy Reporting Forum

  • 3rd Wednesday every month, 10-10:30, Fernwood 3d12
  • Provide a forum for Remedy end users to ask technical questions regarding COGNOS and ODBC reporting
  • Questions and agenda items for meetings can be submitted using the forum on the Remedy Reporting Wiki 

EA Topic Series (EATS)

EMIB Roundtable

  • First Wednesday of every month 12pm-1pm, 12B/2nd floor  conference room
  • List: <IC> IT Infrastructure Contacts.
  • EMI Branch Chief runs this meeting
  • The EMIB round-table meeting is an opportunity for EMIB staff to interact with the IC IT community, and provide insight into the direction and development of Enterprise Messaging and Infrastructure services at the NIH. It provides the IC IT community an opportunity to give EMIB direct feedback into ongoing operations and projects. EMIB also uses it as a forum to provide notification of upcoming changes to the NIH Enterprise Directory Services infrastructure and Central Email Services. On a quarterly basis, the meeting is run by the NIH Apple community. This allows for levels of collaboration not previously available to NIH ITPros.


NIH Apple Sys Admin

  • This is a DL not a meeting.
  • Purpose: Informally exists to allow for the sharing of information between Macintosh administrators at the NIH, many of whom have similar problems but different solutions. They try to highlight different solutions to the various problems and attempt to include Apple and other solution providers and/or vendors in as many meetings as possible.
  • No set schedule but they try to meet monthly.
  • Scot Ryder is the POC for this Meeting 

ITMC

  • Composed of the senior IT officials from each Institute and Center, the ITMC advises the NIH CIO on IT management, planning, and services as a communications vehicle between the IC and the CIO on IT issues. 
  • Meets the first Tuesday of each month from 1:30 - 3:30 in Natcher (occasionally on Executive Blvd)
  • Discussions led by NIH CIO and other ITMC members.

ISSO Group

  • Is composed of ISSOs and functions as a standing working group under the ITMC Security and Privacy Subcommittee (ITMC-SPS). 
  • Meets every third Friday of the month from 1:30-2:30 in Fernwood 3E02
  • Discussions led by Dan Sands and other members of the CIT/ODCIO team.
