The Public Affairs Office is the communications link between the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command /Army Forces Strategic Command (SMDC/ARSTRAT) and the public. Its mission is to serve as principal public affairs advisor and support to the command and as SMDC/ARSTRAT's point of contact on public affairs matters in support of Joint Warfighters, U.S. Strategic Command, and Department of the Army missions. The office develops SMDC/ARSTRAT's public affairs policy and provides technical guidance to the command's major subordinate elements. The Public Affairs Office plans and executes programs in the areas of public information, clearance of materials for public release, command information, and community outreach.

Kwajalein Hourglass

The Hourglass is named for the insignia of the U.S. Army 7th Infantry Division, which liberated the island from the forces of Imperial Japan on Feb 4, 1944. The Kwajalein Hourglass is an authorized publication for military personnel, federal employees, contractor workers and their families assigned to USAKA.
