24 January 2013 "NATO PARTNERSHIPS – WHAT ROLE IN THE EVOLUTION OF THE ALLIANCE?" NATO SCHOOL Oberammergau conducted "NATO's Partnerships – The Oberammergau Symposium" on 23 and 24 January 2013. Ambassador Dirk Brengelmann, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, was the Chairman of the Symposium. Nearly 200 participants from 27 Allied member states and 37 Partner Nations attended the Symposium, representing all of NATO's partnership frameworks, partners across the globe, and other partner countries. <full story>
17 January 2013 "Leading NATO to 2020 and beyond" About 250 participants attended the NATO Defence Planning Symposium 2013, conducted at NATO School Oberammergau between 15 and 17 January 2013. Members of the NATO nations, the NATO Strategic Commands as well as NATO Agencies and staffs from both Brussels and SHAPE, were joined by colleagues from Austria, Finland, Ireland, Malta and Sweden, as well as European Union Military Staff and Marshall Centre staffs. <full story>
15 January 2013 60 Years of Teaching Excellence at NATO School Oberammergau... NATO School Oberammergau celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2013. In honour of this occasion an exhibition on 60 Years of Teaching Excellence has been inaugurated. The School in Oberammergau started its story of success 60 years ago. What once was a horse stables, is now a place where more than 80 different nations from all over the world arrive to network and to learn. About 10.000 soldiers and NATO civilians participate in more than 250 courses and conferences a year. <full story>
08 January 2013 Minister Kreuzer – "NATO School Oberammergau is a great example of German-American Cooperation" Bavarian State Chancellor Thomas Kreuzer visited NATO School Oberammergau, accompanied by Renate Dodell, Member of the Bavarian Landtag. In an office call with School Commandant Colonel Mark Baines and Deputy Commandant Colonel Enrico Werner they discussed the substantial economic factor of the School for the village of Oberammergau. More than 50.000 overnight stays in the region could be credited to NATO School Oberammergau guests. The School itself is one of the biggest employers in Oberammergau. <full story>
