Understanding & Influencing Multilevel Factors Across the Cancer Care Continuum
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Division of Cancer Control and
Population Sciences is pleased to announce the May 2012 Journal of the
National Cancer Institute (JNCI) Special Issue, Understanding and Influencing
Multilevel Factors Across the Cancer Care Continuum. Written by
transdisciplinary teams, the thirteen papers and five commentaries in the
publication complete the work of the March 2011 NCI conference, Multilevel
Interventions in Health Care: Building the Foundation for Future Research.
The goal of the NCI Multilevel Intervention research initiative is to expand
the scientific base of multilevel interventions in cancer care as well as other
health conditions. The JNCI special issue is relevant to multiple audiences
interested in interventions within a health care context:
- Health services, community, and clinical researchers may find particular interest in the discussion of the state of the science of multilevel intervention research, opportunities to advance such research, and measurement and analytic approaches.
- Public health practitioners will value its broad perspective and diverse examples-encompassing cancer control, chronic disease care, genomics, and prevention.
- Clinicians will appreciate its emphasis on real-world contextual factors, implementation issues, and sustainability, as well as its coverage of pragmatic trials and partnerships.
- Health care administrators will value the focus on time as a consideration in the evaluation of effects, as well as attention to implementation matters concerning the Affordable Care Act of 2010.
The special issue is sponsored by the NCI Division of Cancer Control and
