CRIS Users:
As you know, we had planned to do a major upgrade of Eclipsys's Sunrise Clinical Manager this coming Saturday. We had scheduled an extended "down," and hospital staff were prepared to work with paper for almost a day. Several months of steady work and planning have gone into the effort, both on the part of DCRI and CRIS staff, and the CC's clinical departments.
Unfortunately, we learned today from Eclipsys that another hospital that had turned on the upgraded system within the past two weeks has had significant problems. These problems involve both system performance and application behavior that could affect the delivery of care. Eclipsys is confident that they know what the problems are, and are writing "hot fixes" to install to fix the system. However, I have no realistic expectation that these will be available to us in time for us to test them and have sufficient confidence in the system to turn it on this weekend. Eclipsys has concurred with this evaluation. Accordingly, I have delayed the upgrade until we know for certain that the issues are resolved.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience that this causes, and want to thank all of you who have been working with us to develop the new features of the system and to support the transition. We will choose another date as soon as we are confident the upgraded system has been fixed.
