The Privacy Act regulates how the government collects, maintains, uses, and disseminates records containing identifiable personal information. The unauthorized disclosure of information pertaining to a Clinical Center (CC) patient or research volunteer is prohibited by the Privacy Act. In order to avoid the inadvertent use of a patient's name in these training materials produced by the CC Department of Clinical Research Informatics, real and fictitious names are not used in data fields requiring names. In these training exercises, common names of fruits and vegetables are used instead.
