Sharon Kirkpatrick

Sharon Kirkpatrick, PhD, MHSc, is a Visiting Fellow with the Risk Factor Monitoring and Methods Branch of the Applied Research Program. Dr. Kirkpatrick's research to date has primarily focused on food access issues and nutrition disparities among disadvantaged groups. Her interest in methodologic issues related to dietary assessment emerged from her PhD work examining dietary intakes in relation to household food security. Other interests include the measurement of food environments and issues related to food policy and dietary guidance. Dr. Kirkpatrick earned her PhD in Nutritional Sciences and Master of Health Science in Community Nutrition from the University of Toronto, and also holds Bachelor degrees in nutrition and kinesiology. She previously worked as an analyst at Health Canada's Office of Nutrition Policy and Promotion, where she participated in a variety of research and policy projects.
