The first place to start is at the American Embassy's Educational Advising Center.  The Advising Center is part of the services that the Embassy offers to the Ivoirian public through the Public Affairs Section. It is open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings and provides services to prospective students, scholars, and parents, who seek information about educational and training opportunities in the United States.

An educational advisor is available to inform, advise, and guide students through the process of understanding the higher education system in the United States as well as choosing and applying to a college or university in the US.

The Center provides a general information session twice a month. This session is free and open to all who wish to attend.

Other services offered include:

  • Individual advising
  • Access to internet for advising purposes
  • Tips on writing an essay
  • Computer time for standardized tests practice
  • Guidance in filling out application forms
  • Orientation sessions on how to use the educational reference books at the IRC

These services are offered for a nominal fee.

Important:

In 2012, The EducationUSA Advising Center,  will hold its Open Information Session "If You Want to Study in the United States Graduate Level" at the American Corner situated at CIRES in Cocody facing the l'Hôtel Communal de Cocody, near Lycée Classique d'Abidjan. These sessions are free and open to all.

This is the 1st step in preparing to study in the USA.
