NIHnet Networking Services

The Center for Information Technology (CIT) supports the National Institutes of Health (NIH), by providing Internet and network connectivity. CIT acts as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) to the NIH and is responsible for the management and maintenance of NIH’s network, as well as the installation of networks for new construction and renovations of NIH buildings.

CIT’s primary network customers include the Office of the Director and NIH’s 27 Institutes or Centers (ICs), which are located on NIH’s campus in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as off-campus ICs, which are located throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and around the country.
