Snow Leopard Multiple Files Instructions

Apple Macintosh OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) -- Multiple Files Instructions

  1. Create a folder on the machine the files are being downloaded to -- name it whatever you like (in this example, we created the folder on the Desktop & named the folder "MacOS_10_6")

  2. Using your web browser, download all 3 of the following files from iSDP to this folder. When prompted, type in your username -- remember to precede your username with: NIH\

    OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Disk 1
    OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Disk 2
    OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Disk 3

  3. Launch Terminal from /Applications/Utilities

  4. After each of the following Terminal commands, press the Return key

  5. Type in: cd ~/Desktop/MacOS_10_6/

  6. Type in: cat MacOS_10_6_Part_* > MacOS_10_6.dmg

  7. This will take some time to complete

  8. The resulting MacOS_10_6.dmg file can now be used to make a bootable dual-layer DVD of Mac OS 10.6

  9. The "MacOS_10_6_Part_" files can now be deleted
