Test Site - HOME The Kwajalein Mission Control Center (KMCC) provides the central control, command, communications, and computing essential for directing the realtime data collection efforts of the RTS sensors. A high bandwidth submarine fiber optic transmission system provides encrypted connectivity between KMCC and the entire range complex. KMCC processes realtime state vector data from radar tracks using target complex processing algorithms to determine the best choice cueing data for each sensor. With its exceptional computational capabilities, KMCC is able to distribute realtime data to land, sea, or airborne mobile sensors deployed to support testing at RTS, as well as to CONUS based testbeds and simulation centers via satellite link. |
The console room is the focal point
for control of range operations. Within this area are a variety of displays that
allow KMCC operators to make real-time decisions based on the status of the RTS
sensors and the nominality of the target complex. The MET Support contractor
provides meteorological displays, while the logistics contractor has a console
in KMCC for logistics coordination. A User’s Bay, adjacent to the control room,
is provided which allows RTS Range Users to view a mission from KMCC, using KMCC
displays. A satellite viewing area, outside of KMCC but in the same building, is
able to support larger user contingents that would not fit into the limited User
Bay space at KMCC. KMCC includes an Observation Tower for RTS Command
representatives and Distinguished Visitors. An upgraded Range Safety
Control Center (RSCC), designed to support Multiple Simultaneous
Engagements (MSE), has been developed adjacent to the KMCC Console Room. Also in
the console room is an Audio Visual console that controls a variety of video
inputs to KMCC and directs them to overhead projectors and/or other smaller
displays within the console room.
KMCC CONSOLE ROOM
The KMCC Console Room is the focal point of command, control, and
communications (C³) activity during mission operations. The console room is
divided into two separate areas: the main console area and the Observation
Tower. The Range User’s Bay is adjacent to the KMCC.
COMPUTER CENTER
The computer center comprises four major
systems: the central computer; the display
system; the synchronous real-time system;
and the playback system.
Range Users (RU) Room
The Range User’s Room provides console positions to allow Mission User’s to
monitor available information during the course of a mission.
Observation Tower
The Observation Tower provides two levels: the Lower Level for RTS Command
representatives and the Upper Level for Distinguished Visitors. Inside each
level, console positions are provided to allow the Range Commander, Command
Staff Personnel, and Distinguished Visitors to monitor operations during the
course of a mission.
