Prerequisite:
Students must be currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a medical school in the U.S. and Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), an osteopathic school in the U.S. accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) or a dental school accredited by the Commision on Dental Accreditation (CODA.)

Objectives:

• Gain knowledge and understanding of endocrine neoplasm diagnosis and treatment
• Learn clinical research methods and gain exposure to experimental therapeutic clinical trials
• Develop knowledge of familial cancer syndromes and understand the role of genetic counseling and testing
• Develop an appreciation of the current controversies and current areas of research in endocrine oncology
• Gain knowledge in the surgical treatment of endocrine neoplasms
• Learn to perform a focused history and physical exam in patients with endocrine neoplasms

Selection of Applicants
Students will be selected based on review of their completed application including their cover letter, which should outline their goals for the elective. Availability may be limited due to programmatic constraints.

This is a highly specialized elective in Endocrine Oncology/Surgery. Only medical, osteopathic or dental students interested in endocrine oncology or surgery will be considered for possible selection, on a case-by-case basis.
