Maureen Riggs is the Deputy Garrison Manager for the USAG Grafenwoehr, Garmisch-Partenkirchen Community.  The cornerstones of her leadership philosophy are trust, communication, team work and ethics.  She believes they provide a strong foundation for everything we do.  Mrs. Riggs understands the future will bring new challenges to the community and she believes we can solve them by working together!


Mrs. Riggs has over 26 years experience with Department of Defense.  Before joining the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Community in July 2012, she attended the United States Army War College and received her Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies.  Preceding her attendance at the Army War College she served two years on the Installation Management Command, Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation Programs, G-9 staff and four years on the Installation Management Command, Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation Programs, West Region staff at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.  While there, Mrs. Riggs worked in the Child, Youth & School Services Program. 


Prior to moving to the Region, Mrs. Riggs worked at various garrisons.  She served for five years at Fort Riley, Kansas as Deputy Community Activities Program Manager and Child, Youth & School Services Coordinator, seven years at Fort Hood, Texas as the Child, Youth & School Services Coordinator, and three years with 280th Base Support Division in Schweinfurt, Germany as the Chief, Family Support Division and Child Development Services Coordinator.  Subsequent to coming to Germany, Mrs. Riggs was the Installation Volunteer Coordinator and Child Development Center Director at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  As Center Director she managed two large centers serving over 500 children.  Mrs. Riggs began her career with the Army in 1981 in Bad Kissingen, Germany where she was a Child Development Center Director for a small center serving less than 100 children. 


Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Riggs traveled with her family to several locations in the United States following her father’s career in the Air Force.  She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and received a Bachelor of Science of Degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Child Development.  She is married to David Riggs and supported his career as a tanker in the Army for 11 years.   She is a mother of four children and has seven beautiful grandchildren.
